Rainbow Dash is the main antagonist of “If I Can't Have My Dream, You Can't Either”, which is a Darkfic written by ABagOVicodin made as one of his submissions for NaNoPoWriMo.
The story takes place if Rainbow Dash didn't get accepted by the Wonderbolts. She would then decide to let her own anger out at her own adoptive younger sister Scootaloo, despite the latter having nothing to do with the former Wonderbolt-in-training.
What makes Her a Hate Sink?[]
- Even though there was a brief moment of her feeling helpless and insecure about being rejected by The Wonderbolts, this is later subverted as she then sees herself better off without them, therefore not making her genuinely tragic.
- The care she might've had with Scootaloo before was also subverted as she would be shown to be very spiteful and petty towards her, despite the latter having done nothing wrong to her.
- She never recovers from her villainous breakdown from being rejected by the Wonderbolts, as she would then let out her own anger at Scootaloo, who wasn't even deserving of it nor was even associated with the Wonderbolts. This would also make Rainbow Dash's anger be very disproportionate.
- When she was walking with Scootaloo after she left from the train station, she was shown to be unreasonably rude and disrespectful to her younger sibling Scootaloo, even when the latter asked Rainbow Dash what was wrong and asked if she was okay. Dash would also call Scootaloo a “flightless waste of space”, knowing very well of Scootaloo's disability to fly.
- Even when Scootaloo told Rainbow Dash that just because she was a better flier than her doesn't mean that she gets to make fun of people who can't fly, Dash would punch Scootaloo in the face, breaking the latter's nose and causing it to bleed. This was the very thing that broke Scootaloo's spirit.
- Rainbow Dash would also proceed to brutally beat up Scootaloo, despite the latter begging for her to stop, while also blaming the latter of “fighting” her just because Scootaloo bothered her about what happened and that she “gave her a few clues” despite the fact Dash having attacked Scootaloo first, making Rainbow Dash a petty hypocrite.
- She would call Scootaloo useless and proceeds to mock her disability to fly despite the latter being a teenager, even saying that she "has seen fillies half [her] age that were able to flap their wings and fly".
- Rainbow Dash rudely says that she bets that Scootaloo won't get her cutie mark at all, even going as far as to give her an unfair comparison to Sweetie Belle, who has already gotten her cutie mark, saying that Sweetie Belle's cutie mark is more useful.
- Even when Scootaloo told her about her dream of becoming the best scooter rider in Equestria, Rainbow Dash just laughs at her face before she asks if Scootaloo dares to “insult” her when she couldn't fly without it, even though Scootaloo never insulted her to begin with and the former having just done so, with Rainbow Dash even calling her the R-slur.
- After this, Rainbow Dash would proceed to brutally Scootaloo with the latter's wooden scooter, causing it to break, while still proceeding to batter her own sibling with it the broken scooter, even mocking Scootaloo about it afterwards about having done it.
- Dash admits to wanting to break Scootaloo's wings off, as she thinks that the latter's wings were just as useless as her, meaning that she intended to go as far as to try to mutilate her own adoptive sister. Thankfully, this action was stopped by Applejack, as Dash would then be knocked out by the latter, in which Applejack would then take Scootaloo to the hospital for the terrible injuries that Rainbow Dash gave to her.
- If it weren't for Applejack saving her, Scootaloo would've ended up dying from the injuries and loss of blood, in which Rainbow Dash would've been responsible for.
- It is also very likely that Scootaloo would also have some psychological scars from Rainbow Dash, despite having fully recovered and healed in the end.
- This version of Rainbow Dash, unlike her original counterpart, has no redeeming qualities nor comedic moments whatsoever.
