~ Raoul to Meg Altman. |
Raoul is the main antagonist of the 2002 thriller film Panic Room. He is a cruel psychopath who is not afraid to kill people, children or even his own partners.
He is portrayed by Dwight Yoakam.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- He makes it very clear that he will stop at nothing to get the money, even if he has to go as far as to commit attempted child murder or the cold-blooded torture of an innocent man.
- While his comrades Junior and Burnham only committed burglary, Raoul is the only one of the trio who committed these rather heinous acts.
- He killed Junior after they got in a fight over the money which resulted in Junior attempting to leave the scene of the robbery due to being overwhelmed by the events that had transpired.
- He takes Stephen hostage and forces Burnham to stay with him, being in charge of the commands now.
- When he discovers that Stephen is Meg's ex-husband, he beats Stephen viciously so Meg could see it on the security cameras.
- After Stephen tries to shoot him with a gun but misses, he continues to beat Stephen, almost to death.
- When he and Burhman end up in the panic room with Sarah and his hand gets crushed by the closing door, he tells Meg that he will kill Sarah if she calls the police or goes for help.
- He viciously attacks Meg and Sarah with a sledgehammer after Burnham leaves with the money.
- His death via getting shot by Burnham is not played for sympathy, as he deserved it for all the vile acts that he committed in the film.
- Overall, he is shown to be a wisecracking psychopath who is more evil, cruel and murderous than his comrades from the beginning and the only real threat to Meg and Sarah Altman in the film.
