Rast is a supporting antagonist in Game of Thrones, serving as a major antagonist in the Night's Watch storyline. He is a mutineer of the Night's Watch and the archenemy of Samwell Tarly.

He was portrayed by Luke McEvan.

What makes him Hated?[]

  • Rast got sent to the wall for being a rapist, immediately painting him as a hateable character.
  • He was extremely hostile to both Samwell Tarly and Jon Snow.
  • He is extremely cruel to people inferior to him, tries to beat Sam to "pudding pieces" and abuses Hodor when caught by him.
  • He is one of the members of the Night's Watch who betrayed the watch at Craster's keep.
  • He murders Lord Commander Jeor Mormont by stabbing him in the back and then stabbing him repeatedly in the throat when he fell dying.
  • He is also hostile to Ghost, refusing a request to feed him and spilling the water he is supposed to have on the floor.
  • He gives Craster's last son to the others.
  • He abandons the mutineers and cowardly runs away when Night's Watch reinforcements arrive, only to be cowardly eaten by Ghost.

Trivia[]

  • His character in the books was not a sink of hatred as he did not betray Jeor Mormont (and was not at all beyond his mother-in-law) and also he was killed in the battle of Black Castle with bravery.
