"Love to hate" factors	Great performance by David Proval. Has many deadpan snarker moments. Despite his other negative traits, he isn’t a coward and is one of the few characters who is able to intimidate Tony. The infamous "Jacket" scene, which is now a meme.

Richie Aprile is a major antagonist in The Sopranos television series. He is the main antagonist of the second season of the show.

He is played by David Proval.

What Makes Him a Hate Sink?

• He assaulted Rocco DiMeo and stole his jacket. This ruined Rocco's reputation as being the toughest guy in Essex County, and he never came back.
• Assaults Beansie because he didn't give Richie the money he wanted
• Paralyzes Beansie after he once again doesn't give him money, rendering Beansie a paraplegic for the rest of his life.
• While he did get into a relationship with Janice Soprano, he was very abusive, and even had sex with her while holding a gun to her head.
• Repeatedly clashed with Tony Soprano because he believed he was entitled to a higher position, despite being very disrespectful to him.
• Decided to have Tony killed just because he was feeling disrespected.
• Argued with Janice and said he didn't like the fact his son might be gay. Although Janice is also considered a hate sink, this action has nothing to do with her.
• Hits Janice when that argument gets heated.
• While many characters in The Sopranos shows Evil is Cool and Even Evil Has Loved Ones, Richie lacks all of this.
