Rip Blazkowicz is one of the overarching antagonists of the Wolfenstein video game series. He serves as an unseen antagonist in The New Order, the secondary antagonist of The New Colossus and a posthumous antagonist in Youngblood. He is the horrendously abusive father of B.J. Blazkowicz.
Although Rip doesn't have as much screentime as Deathshead or Frau Engel, he is quite possibly BJ's most personal enemy to date for making his childhood a living Hell as well as directly causing the death of his kind-hearted mother Zofia.
He was voiced by Glenn Morshower.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- He’s extremely racist, homophobic, and a domestic abuser. He only married the Jewish Zofia for her father’s money and then idiotically lost it all.
- He ordered his son to kill his own pet dog Bessie with a shotgun when he was 8 years old, simply for playing with a black girl. If BJ refuses and instead shoots the wall, Rip takes the shotgun and does the deed himself while calling his son feeble.
- It’s revealed that he earned a 2,000-acre ranch near Forney Lake by selling Zofia (along with all of his Jewish, colored and gay neighbors with help from other like-minded neighbors) to the Nazis out of spite. Zofia and all the other minorities died in a concentration camp. He also could have done it to save his own skin.
- He dies like a moron, trying to kill BJ—a one-man army who has survived numerous fatal wounds—with nothing but a shotgun. Sadly though, it wasn't before he revealed BJ's location to Frau Engel on the phone.
- Even his decision to support and collaborate with the Nazis was a very dumb move, since he's an American of Polish descent married to a Jew, which they hated as much as non-whites. He's also a proud Christian (another religion that the Nazis hated) who's even the father of their sworn archenemy. It's honestly a miracle BJ killed him before the Nazis did.
- He displays numerous examples of hypocrisy:
- Harshly punishing BJ for not being a white supremacist like himself, despite marrying a Jewish woman (although this was only for her father's money).
- Scolding BJ for being a murderer and Zofia for raising him that way, seemingly while ignoring his very own "kill or be killed" lecture back when he ordered his son to shoot the family dog.
- Calling his son a "candyass" for throwing vases at him, only to then cowardly betray his wife and neighbors decades later.
- Swearing all the time and yet scolding BJ for having a "mouth like a sewer".
- Complaining about "getting screwed out of his earnings left and right", which is actually completely his own fault to begin with as he became a failed businessman due to his conman schemes.
- S, even though
- Although he once helped a young BJ face his nightmares by going downstairs to the basement and giving him a BB rifle, it was clearly for selfish reasons only as his son's screams were making noise and Rip couldn't sleep.
- He lacks any charisma or redeeming qualities, and everything about him is taken seriously. Even Hitler provides some black comedy in his cameo, and Deathshead and Frau Engel are both creepy but very entertaining.
