Roar Omega Roar (abbreviated as ROR; stylized as RΩR) are the main antagonists of Pixar's 14th fill-length animated feature film Monsters University, the official prequel to the original Monsters, Inc. film.
They are an arrogant group of bullies who are also very proud scarers themselves. They also take joy in bullying the members of Oozma Kappa, more specifically Mike Wazowski, due to the fact that none of them were quote on quote "scary".
What Makes Them Hate Sinks?[]
- They frequently bullied Mike as well as the rest of Oozma Kappa purely because they "weren't scary", with them being a large source of Mike's insecurities and his feeling as if he needs to prove himself.
- They invited Oozma Kappa over for a party to seemingly celebrate them managing to get so far in the scare games only for them to then turn around and humiliate them in front of the entire party, seemingly out of petty spite.
- They posted an embarrassing image of Oozma Kappa all over Monsters University, which led to them being mocked and ridiculed all across the campus.
- While Johnny said it's not cool for Mike to tell them to stop raising money for charity and while Chet told everyone that he hates charity this could be to make Mike look bad rather than disgust, when the bullying itself is not cool, not even when used for charity.
- Unlike Randall, who was supposed to be portrayed as sympathetic with insecurities surrounding his powers, which caused him to fall, and Sulley who would ultimately go onto redeem himself, Roar Omega Roar are portrayed as little more than spiteful bullies who find amusement in bullying monsters who they perceive as "not scary" and are never presented with any sympathetic qualities or are ever shown to properly redeem themselves except Chet who redeems in Monsters at Work Season 2.
- Johnny got arrested in the finale of Season 2 of Monsters At Work, making it well-deserved.
- While they did ultimately lose the Scare Games, they are not shown getting much in the way of proper repercussions for their cruel actions and even end up getting the winner's trophy after it was revealed that Sullivan cheated so Mike wouldn't cause the team to lose, making them Karma Houdinis.
Trivia[]
- Chet no longer qualifies as a Hate Sink due to redeeming himself in Monsters at Work and getting Johnny arrested for his crimes.
