Rose Armitage is the main antagonist of the 2017 horror-comedy Get Out. While initially seeming like a supportive girlfriend to Chris Washington, in actuality, she was using him so that the Order of Coagula, which her family were part of, could take over his body.
What Makes Her a Hate Sink?[]
- Along with her brother Jeremy, Rose kidnaps African Americans so that her mother could brainwash them and her father put the memories of the Order of Coagula into them. She would do this by using her charisma to lure African American men and women back to her home.
- Although she accidentally hit a deer while driving Chris’s car, she showed no concern or remorse for killing it while Chris was traumatised. Furthermore she pretends to panic after crashing it as a ploy to appear as normal.
- Rose allowed Logan King to possess Andre Hayworth’s body for the rest of his life and, even if she didn't kidnap him, she was an accessory to his kidnapping.
- When Chris's suspicions about Rose's family increased, Rose allowed her family to capture Chris despite previous promising that they would leave.
- To tie up a loose end, Rose promised Chris's friend Rod Williams to have sex with him with intentions to kill or kidnap him later on.
- Attempted to kill Chris by chasing him down with a rifle.
- Rose sent her equally reprehensible grandfather to chase after Chris.
- When Chris kills her entire family and grandparents, Rose doesn't seem the least bit fazed over their deaths which proves that she never loved them and only pretended to in order to live a confortable life and not have to live alone.
- Willingly allowed Chris to strangle her when she was mortally wounded and attempted to manipulate him one last time to win back his trust and loyalty but to no avail.
- Put her racism on display when, in the twilight moments of her life, she was willing to let Chris murder her when the cops arrived. The only thing that prevented Rose from looking like the victim was that the cop car that arrived was driven by Chris's friend Rod.
Trivia[]
- While Rose was already a reprehensible pure evil villain, her hate sink status was solidified when her actress, Allison Williams, said during an interview that she has no empathy for her character because of how vile and heinous her crimes were.
