Aramaki, more commonly known by his alias Ryokugyu (アラマキ meaning Green Bull), is a major antagonist in the manga/anime series One Piece. He and Fujitora were the two new admirals of the Marines chosen to fill in the positions after Akainu's promotion to Fleet Admiral and Aokiji's resignation.
While originally seemingly like a friendly and very laid-back individual, when the need arises, Ryokugyu is an extremely brutal and even dishonorable combatant and a follower of the dogma of "Absolute Justice", but with his own personal justice being "Determined Justice". Unlike most of the Marines, Ryokugyu holds strong beliefs of the Celestial Dragons that dedicates his fanatical loyalty towards them.
He was originally voiced by the late Keiji Fujiwara before being replaced by Junichi Suwabe (who has also voiced Hermes in Record of Ragnarök) in Japanese and Matthew David Rudd in English.
What makes him a hate sink[]
- He was going to capture the scabbards after they were liberated from 20 years of domination.
- The way he fights is inhumane, sapping the injured beast pirates of their nutrients leaving them disfigured.
- He boasts that he can kill anybody in Wano due to being in a position of power.
- Declares that since Wano isn't a member of the World Government, they don't deserve rights.
- Glorifies the obviously corrupt and oppressive celestial dragons as gods.
- He idolizes Akainu but the scenes depicting that seem to only emphasize his servitude towards the law, he wants to capture Luffy mainly to get Akainu's approval.
- He and Fujitora got into a fight because he didn't like that he let the slaves freed by the revolutionary army escape.
- He represents the fanatical loyalty to the governments oppressive social structure

- He is deemed a coward by fans when he evacuated from the red-haired pirates, but that doesn't make sense seeing as he had no other option.
- His devil fruit is a foil to Fujitoras, his devil fruit is more deadly, but he only uses it when necessary. Ryokugyu devil fruit is plant based which is associated with life and peace, but he uses his power in the most brutal way possible.
