Ryosuke Sugano (菅野 良介 Sugano Ryōsuke) is the opening antagonist of the 2020 manga series Oshi No Ko by Aka Akasaka, as well as of its 2023 anime adaptation. He is an obsessive fan of Ai Hoshino, leader of the idol group B-Komachi, who upon learning she would give birth to 2 children, Ruby and Aquamarine, will murder her.
He is voiced by Atsushi Tamaru in Japanese and by Gabriel Regojo in the English dub. In Live Action adaptation, he's portrayed by Kazuto Mokudai.
What Makes Him Hatable?[]
- He is a obsessive loony fan. He refuses to see any of the celebrities as actual human beings and will go in a homicidal rage if they don't fit the demeaning standards he has for them.
- Despite being in a relationship with Fuyuko Niino, he often neglected her in favor of his obsession with Ai Hoshino (though this is somehow downplayed as he remained loyal to Fuyuko in spite of his actions by killing himself the moment she tells him to commit suicide).
- Upon learning Ai is pregnant with 2 twins, he does not take it kindly and stalks her, presumably with help from her ex-boyfriend Hikaru Kamiki, and upon running into her doctor, Gorou Amamiya, who realizing how dangerous he is, tries to take him down and stop her, pushes him off a cliff with rocks at the bottom to kill him.
- Upon finally learning the location of Ai's house during the day of her big dome concert, he murders her by stabbing her in the abdomen, being entitled all the way as he proclaims the pain she felt with that stab to be less than the pain he felt realizing she is a human being as well and demeans her.
- He berates Ai for being in love with someone other than himself AND for having children behind his back, even though Ryōsuke is also secretly dating Fuyuko Niino, one of Ai’s co-stars, behind everyone’s back, making him hypocritical.
- Even his moment of shock when he realizes he was completely wrong upon Ai saying his name and stating she does remember who he was and how they met before is not used to portray him in a sympathetic light at all, deciding to just cowardly run away than take responsibility for his crimes, becoming the least sympathetic of all of Kamiki and Nino's victims
- He is overall the very showcase on the worst of otaku culture to bring a gut punching finish to the series' premiere and show how the Japanese entertainment industry is far from as glamorous as it seems.
