Scorpio (real name: Charles Davis) is the main antagonist of the 1971 film Dirty Harry. He is a psychopathic serial killer who kills people of all ages in San Francisco and is Harry Callahan's arch-enemy.
He was portrayed by Andrew Robinson.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- He's an absolute coward who only targets weak people, whining and begging for mercy when Harry corners him at the football stadium.
- He's blatantly racist against black people, saying the N-word in his first ransom note and calling the guy he pays to beat him up a "black sonuvabitch". He also targets a gay Catholic priest, implying homophobia as well.
- He starts the film off by sniping a swimming woman in her rooftop pool.
- He killed a 10-year-old black boy by blowing his face off from a distance out of racism.
- He kidnaps a 14-year-old girl, burying her alive and then letting her slowly suffocate to death even after Harry pays him $200,000. It's also made repeatedly and abundantly clear that he raped and took one of her teeth before she died.
- He hijacks a busload of children and threatens to kill them all if the mayor doesn't give him more money as well as a plane for him to leave the country. When two boys ask to be let off, Scorpio smacks them both across the head and screams bloody murder that he'll kill all of their mothers if they don't sing "Row, Row, Row Your Boat".
- He uses a young boy fishing as a human shield during his final shootout with Harry.
- He dies like a fool, trying to shoot Harry while he still had one bullet left.
- Overall, Scorpio is such an irredeemable scumbag that even his own actor felt uncomfortable playing him due to being a pacifist in real life, and he got so many death threats solely for his performance that he had to get an unlisted phone number.
