Shin Uchiha is the main antagonist of the manga Naruto Gaiden and a recurring antagonist of the anime Boruto. He was an Orochimaru test subject and student of Orochimaru before he wanted to revive the Akatsuki.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- He doesn't have any redeeming qualities nor laughable moments and is treated very seriously.
- He says that the idea of peace is absurd as it halts the evolution of mankind, even though peace is a good thing. With that, he manages to mix Social Darwinism with War Is Glorious all in one sentence. His effort to resurrect Akatsuki can be seen as a way to restart the "evolution".
- While he is a massive fanatic for Itachi and the Akatsuki (wearing a black coat with the red cloud emblem under his cloak and seeking to create his own iteration of the group), according to Orochimaru, it's like more of a toxic obsession rather than genuine care and admiration for Itachi, and it seems he just wants to Cary out his goals rather than generally wanting make the leaf village a better place.
- He spitefully despises Sasuke for being a disgrace to the Uchiha clan and thinks Sasuke doesn’t deserve the sharingan, despite Shin not being a Uchiha in the first place, which makes him a hypocrite.
- He tried to kill Naruto and Sasuke while he succeeded at injuring both of them. He also tries to kill Sasuke’s daughter Sarada for her blood meaning he has no honor and no problem killing children.
- When he was injured, he killed one of his clones to transplant his organ into him. A disgusted Sakura calls him out for this.
- He captured Sakura during his battle against Naruto and Sasuke and tried to keep her imprisoned until she fought against him.
- He mocks Sasuke saying his worthless parental feelings oppressed him.
- He was a completely terrible father figure who did not care about his clone sons in the slightest, seeing them as nothing but tools and expendable beings once they've outlived their usefulness. Also using them as human shields to protect himself, and organ donators when he loses needs surgery.
- This would eventually comeback to bite him as his sons turned against him due to his weakening body and Sharingan make him obsolete as their father.
- While his death at the hands of his clones was pretty brutal, it was not played for sympathy in slightest.
- Overall, he was highly arrogant and egotistical and only cared for himself. To add salt in the wound, despite all his tough talks, he accomplished pretty much none of his goals, he didn't win any of his battles, and was ultimately killed off by his own clone sons. Despite having the Mangekyo Sharingan, he had no access to most of the abilities that makes them so dangerous, with even his use of a Kamui-like ability being only good for transport rather than defense or attack. And while his weapon controlling powers were impressive and good for a surprise attack, they still were well below the forces he intended to supplant.
