What Makes Them Despicable	Enabled her son Nozomu Okaya to do his bullying without trying to nurture him away or out of feeling pleasure through pain of others. Covering up her son's crimes.
"Love to hate" factors	She cares for her son genuinely. At least she didn't do anything disgusting yet. Few fights are entertaining.

Shizuka Okaya is the overarching antagonist in the Maria No Danzai series. He is the mother of Nozomu Okaya.

What Makes Her a Hate Sink?

• While somewhat a redeeming quality as she did it out of genuine care, she enabled her son Nozomu Okaya to do his actions of bullying believing it is only way to be happy rather than try to nurture him out of that behavior.
• She covers up her son's actions due to being chief of police as she ensured the truth of Kiritaka Nagare's death, being her son and the bullies is covered up.
• Although it was later revealed she and her husband was heavily abused by Nozomu, it isn't played for sympathy. Not to mention members of the Nagare Family went through similar if not worse than her and still turned out to be good people so it doesn't make her tragic or a scapegoat.

Trivia

• Despite being less vile than her son, she is considered more hated by the fans due to the fact she enabled him to do his cruelty with no attempt to reform or steer him out of his path even if he was born evil she could've at least still tried, making her responsible for all events of the series.
