Goals	Take over the surface world. Use Shimo's power to create a second ice age (both failed).
What Makes Them Despicable	Enslaved fellow great apes and being an abusive tyrant. Torturing Shimo for years and exploited her powers. Killing Suko's caretaker/guardian. Treating dozens to hundreds of female apes like sex slaves and forcing them to sire his children.
"Love to hate" factors	His design is pretty cool and succeeds at being creepy He uses a whip made from the spine of one of his past kills to fight with. He also had a pretty badass fight scene in the final act of the movie. To his credit, he was not a coward even when going against Titans larger and younger than him.

The Skar King is the main antagonist of the 2024 film Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, the fifth installment of Legendary Pictures' MonsterVerse.

What Makes Him a Hate Sink?

• Thus far in the MonsterVerse, The Skar King is the most despicable of the Titans: The M.U.T.O.s in the first entry were just ordinary predators acting on instinct rather than malice and while King Ghidorah is pure evil, King Ghidorah has many Evil is Cool moments and is more a supervillain-level type of evil. The Skar King, however, has no such moments. He is depicted as being a highly loathsome, repugnant and abusive dictator who mistreats his subjects and always goes the extra mile to be wretched. Not to mention that while King Ghidorah forced his servants to be on his side, he was never abusive towards them except for Rodan due to how he viciously attacked him with his lightning breath.
• Overall, he is responsible for the blood feud between the Great Apes and Godzilla's species. This would eventually be the catalyst for Godzilla fighting against Kong on several occasions.
• Abused Shimo by using a crystal to control her through pain, forcing her to do vile acts against her will.
• It is implied that the Skar King is a rapist, forcing the females in his kingdom to give birth to many children (based on a scene where the Skar King has a harem of terrified female apes with their offspring sharing his orange fur).
• In addition to being disgustingly cruel, the Skar King is also an immature bully. He makes fun of Kong when he sees his fake tooth and makes the other apes laugh along with him. When Suko doesn't, the Skar King punishes him by kicking his caretaker (some speculating it to have been his mother) into a lava pit.
• He tried to violently strangle Suko when he smashes the crystal he was using to control Shimo.
  • This will make him much worse should it be confirmed that he is Suko's father.
• While his death is extremely brutal due to him being frozen by Shimo and then shattered, it is not played for sympathy by any stretch of the word as he completely deserved it for how cruel and sadistic he was.
• Because of how tyrannical he was, his subjects celebrate his death and waste no time accepting King Kong as their new king.

Trivia

• He is, so far, the first and only MonsterVerse character to be a Hate Sink.
  • He is also, by extension, the only Godzilla and King Kong character to be a Hate Sink by default, as well as the first kaiju from both franchises to be one as well.
