| ~ Spitfire mocking Soarin to Rainbow Dash. |
Spitfire is a recurring antagonist in the My Little Pony abridged series Ultra Fast Pony by Wacarb. She is the head of the Wonderbolts, here called the “Ineffectual Flight Team” or related nicknames, and regularly abuses her recruits as well as Soarin, who she is married to.
What Makes Her a Hate Sink?[]
- Despite nearly every character in the series being a jerk, most of them still show redeeming traits or are played too much for laughs, while every single scene centered on Spitfire shows her to be an unredeemable sociopath, and unlike the Mane 6 she isn’t even affable about it.
- She regularly abuses Soarin by mocking his sexual impotence and belittling him in public, driving him to tears frequently, and outright threatens to hurt him and make it look like an accident.
- She’s insulting and dismissive toward Rainbow Dash and mocks her desire to be adopted by her so she can have a family. She also shows no gratitude toward Dash for having saved her at the flying competition.
- She’s also shown to be incompetent as she and the flight team fail to save lives whenever they try to, and due to budget cuts the entrance exam for new recruits literally only requires them to write their name.
- She treats her recruits with disdain, calling them all “pathetic” and reacting with disgust when she sees Rainbow Dash there. While she is a drill instructor in canon, this version of Spitfire clearly cares nothing for the recruits and enjoys treating them badly.
- She uses a device called the Spinning Wheel of Death during training sessions, which is designed to spin and throw recruits off at high speeds, showing no concern about the risk of them dying. When Lightning Dust (who appears to be mentally handicapped) mildly annoys her, Spitfire orders the wheel set to “Lethal” while Lightning is riding it.
- She cuts Rainbow from the team to make room for Lightning Dust, and while she had good reason to given Dash’s poor behavior, she is needlessly insulting when telling her this and it’s clear she did it only to spite Dash. When Rainbow then saves her friends from falling to their deaths, Spitfire then reinstates her simply so she can claim credit for the flight team saving someone, then coldly expels Lightning Dust and rips off her insignia which sends her running off in tears.
- It’s shown in a flashback that she only warmed up to having Rainbow Dash as an adoptive daughter once she realized she could make a game out of throwing heavy objects, including knives, at her.
- It’s revealed that she abandoned her other daughter Fleetfoot at flight camp ten years ago while telling Soarin she was dead, and brought her back only to make Rainbow jealous.
