Steely Dan is a minor antagonist in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders. He is an agent of DIO who tries to kill Jotaro and the other Stardust Crusaders.

What Makes Him A Hate Sink?

• The way he uses his Stand focuses on needless sadism rather than efficiently eliminating the threat. With Joseph as a hostage, Dan could have easily just coerced the Crusaders into suicide or following him to Dio, but instead wasted his leverage on abusing Jotaro. This is a case of Stupid Evil and For the Evulz that demonstrates just how petty and incompetent he is with his resources.
• Scammed Joseph by selling him expensive kebabs.
• He's the reason why Enya Geil died, and despite her not being a great person, she didn't deserve to die the way she did. He was also calmly drinking tea while it happened.
• Infected Joseph with his stand and used him as a hostage. He did this to abuse Jotaro, knowing he can't hit him.
• Forced Jotaro to partake in various abusive acts such as:
  • At one point, he paid a child to hit him.
    • When the child hit him a second time, he smacked him in the head, despite only hitting him lightly.
  • Making him to be a human bridge so he can jump on him.
  • Stealing jewelry then ratting him out, making him get beat up by guard. To make things worse, he steal jewelry while they are distracted.
• Cowardly begs for mercy when his connection with Joseph is broken (twice.) After the first break, he tries to infect Jotaro. When this doesn't work, he tries to use an innocent child.
• His beating is overall one of the most satisfying scenes in the story, getting the second longest only beaten by Cioccolata.
• Overall, Steely Dan has seemingly no moral standards, hurting children, carrying hostages and robbing stores. Jotaro notably refers to him as 'the lowest scum'.
