Steven Jacobs is the overarching antagonist of the Planet of the Apes reboot franchise.
He is the charismatic and egotistical CEO of Gen-Sys who sought to put the ALZ-113 drug on the market, which became a pandemic of the Simian Flu that killed nearly the entire human population.
He is portrayed by David Oyelowo.
Why is He Hated?[]
- From the first time he met Koba, he began antagonizing him for no reason.
- Callously authorized various experiments on apes to bypass human trials.
- He callously ordered one of his employees, Robert Franklin, to euthanize twelve ape test subjects.
- When the scientists were testing ALZ-113 on Koba, he watched the experiment out of sadism.
- His role in approving ALZ-113 led to the deaths of billions of people and the near extinction of the human race.
- Tried to stop the Ape Rebellion by massacring them and killing Caesar, just to keep good publicity for his company and save his own skin.
- His death at the hands of Koba was played for complete satisfaction due to the suffering that Koba faced at his hand.
- His actions and greed led to Koba's descent into villainy and many other terrible things happening in-universe such as the Simian Flu Pandemic which destroyed human civilization, the war between apes and humans, and the mutation of the ALZ-113, the latter of which reduced most surviving humans to a primal state of mind.
- He has zero likable qualities as he is nothing more than a smug, greedy, and egotistical abuser. He rarely even shows respect for his employees such as Will Rodman and Robert Franklin and threatened to fire Will on several occasions.
