ā€œ Kamoshida: Why did you allow a student like him to transfer here? He's already started associating with Sakamoto. A student with a criminal record, and the culprit of an assault case. At this rate, it'd be pointless how much I contribute to the school.
Principal: Now, don't be like that... The school counts on you, Kamoshida-kun. You are our star. Still, a steady build-up is a necessary behind such brilliance as well.
Kamoshida: Your troubles never seem to end, do they, Principal Kobayakawa? All right, I understand. I'll continue to do my best to answer your expectations on me.

Suguru Kamoshida is the first major antagonist of the video game Persona 5.

He is an abusive teacher and a volleyball coach who works at Shujin Academy. He is known to be an abusive teacher and coach who physically and sexually abuses his students for his own sadistic pleasure. His twisted nature creates a palace in the Metaverse that resembles a castle. The castle represents the school and how Kamoshida sees himself as the ruler of the school.

He was voiced by YÅ«ji Mitsuya in Japanese, and by D. C. Douglas in English.

What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]

  • He sabotaged Ryuji's track team after finding out they might have been better than his own.
  • He spread a false rumor that Ryuji had an abusive father and insulted his mother. When Ryuji confronted Kamoshida about it, he breaks Ryuji's leg, claiming he did it in "self-defense". This also got the track team disbanded and Ryuji's mother blamed by the faculty.
  • He forces his male students to go through brutal training, which leaves them injured with bandages.
  • He extorts his female students so he can sexually harass them, it's even heavily implied he raped them in secret in his faculty room.
  • When Ann refuses to have sex with him, he sexually assaults (with the heavy implication of rape) Ann's best friend, Shiho Suzui, out of spite.
  • When Ren, Ryuji and Mishima confront Kamoshida about raping Shiho, he mocks them and decides to have them expelled. He feels no remorse over his act as he insults Shiho after she attempts suicide due to his abuse.
  • All the Shujin girls are dressed provocatively in Kamoshida's palace, which goes to show he sees them as nothing but sex objects. It gets worse when in Royal, there's a cognition of Shiho dressed in a playboy bunny outfit, ultimately demonstrates how little he has remorse over what he did to her.
  • Although Kamoshida apologizes for his crimes, it is only done because of the change of heart that was forced on him and still pretends to hit on Ann Takamaki, much to her disgust.

Trivia[]

  • The other incarnation of Kamoshida in Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth, named Kamoshidaman isn't much as detestable as the original one in Persona 5 because he doesn't display sexual predatory behavior towards Ann Takamaki/Panther.
    • Not only that, but he also genuinely reforms himself & carries an old granny on his back in the ending credits, which is something out of character for Kamoshida in Persona 5.
