Svengallop is a minor antagonist in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic who appeared as the main antagonist of the season five episode "The Mane Attraction". He is Coloratura's former bossy and flamboyant manager who exploited her for his personal gain.
He was voiced by Colin Murdock.
What makes him a Hate Sink?[]
- He is a greedy and manipulative manager of Coloratura who exploits her for his own gain.
- He was extremely arrogant, constantly mentioning his achievements and the things he did towards everyone he talked to.
- Tried pulling Coloratura out of the Helping Hooves Music Festival charity event to convince her to focus on the show.
- Never showing his respect of "common" ponies, such as when he disapproved of Coloratura's interactions with them.
- Behind Coloratura's back, he keeps making unreasonable demands to Pinkie Pie and threatening her to pull Coloratura out of the festival if she doesn't comply. And it's extremely unlikely that Pinkie is the first pony he forced to do demands for him.
- Seems to dislike the very idea of charity.
- Possibly is a child hater as he called the school ponies "brats".
- When his truth was revealed in front of Coloratura, instead of panicking or showing remorse about this, he complained about how he worked incredibly hard for her and he deserved everything he get, much to Rara's disgust.
- After quitting his position as Coloratura's manager, he angrily taunted her that her show will fall apart without him, which she nervously doubts about her performance. However, Applejack managed to talk this out by telling her that being herself is the true perk of friendship, and the concert was a success proving Svengallop wrong. In the end, he gets no well-deserved comeuppance, making him a Karma Houdini.
Trivia[]
- In the season six episode "Viva Las Pegasus", Svengallop appeared in the background with a sad expression on his face where Applejack and Fluttershy are eating at the resort cafeteria. And in the season 8 episode "Grannies Gone Wild" Svengallop appeared again in Las Pegasus where Rainbow Dash was watching Granny Smith and company at the dance floor sad and alone at another table. It is debatable whether he is very remorseful over his actions or he isn't excited with his current situation, making karma hit him for sure. If he is truly remorseful over this, he would no longer be a Hate Sink as a result.
- As said by Amy Keating Rogers, his career went into ruins after the events in "The Mane Attraction", meaning that he is out of a job. His cameos in Las Pegasus seem to confirm that.
