Szayel Aporro Granz is a major antagonist of the manga and anime Bleach. He is the 8th Espada and is a sadistic scientist.
He is voiced by Kōsuke Toriumi in the Japanese version and by Benjamin Diskin in the English dub.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- He tortured humans in his past for experiments as an alchemist.
- He and Nnoitra Gilga turned Nel into a child and tortured her fraccions.
- While he cowardly begs Aizen for forgiveness, he only did it just to save himself, proving he cares about no else’s safety but his.
- When he encounters Renji he claims that he is not good at fighting but was lying.
- When Renji asked him about that he’s there to avenge his brother, Yylfordt, he insulted his brother’s death and says that he was weak, showing he never cared about his brother.
- After being damaged by Renji and Uryu, he took one of his fraccions to consume to heal his wound.
- After activating his resurrection form, he uses his ability to create dolls version of Renji and Uryu, so he can crush their organs from the inside.
- After being eaten by Mayuri Kurotsuchi’s Bankai form, he uses Nemu to revive himself and leave her to die.
- Although his death was rather horrifying after he unknowingly consumed a superhuman drug from Nemu’s body that slowed his perception from seconds to several hundreds of years with Mayuri’s sword slowly stabbing to his heart, no one mourned for him and was not played for sympathy.
- He returns to World of Living to get his revenge on those who killed him.
- He intends to kill Renji’s daughter, Ichika, out of spite.
- When he fought Ichigo, he cruelly told him that the ritual for the deceased captains will send them to hell.
