“ | They don't care. Forget 'em. | „ |
~ Noodles' infamous quote. |
“ | Yeah! Forget 'em! You're one of us now! | „ |
~ Pee Wee's infamous quote after shoving Fievel in the mud. |
The Bullying Orphans are minor antagonists from the 1986 animated film An American Tail.
They appear near the end of the film when Fievel finds his way into an orphan alley after he is lost during the fire at Chelsea Pier set by Warren T. Rat before he and his cat gang were disposed of.
What Makes Them Hate Sinks?[]
- Noodles is seen earlier at Moe's Sweatshop, telling Fievel to shut up and get some sleep.
- They are immediately hostile towards Fievel when he tries to settle into their territory, with Noodles grabbing the blanket away from him and Pee Wee asking if he has any food on him.
- When Fievel explains that he has been looking for his family, they all mock him with a taunting song and suggest that his family should be looking for him, not the other way around, and thus they don't care. This comment is what ultimately breaks Fievel's heart, causing him to throw a tantrum, agreeing with them and saying that he doesn't care if he never sees them again.
- After they finish picking on Fievel, Pee Wee pushes him into a mud puddle, and then Roc throws a pile of hay at him so can "make [himself] a bed" before they all laugh, as the whole thing ends with Pee Wee uttering the comment "Pitiful". It is at this point where Fievel starts repeating the word "never", which Henri specifically instructed him not to do.
- They are surprisingly realistic bullies being slightly above Fievel's age.
- If one were to watch the VHS releases containing the theatrical dub with features the original youthful voices for Roc and Pee Wee, their mean-spiritedness is much more authentic and believable.
- They are even nastier than Warren T. Rat, who at least had his comical moments.
- They get away with harassing Fievel and are never shown receiving their comeuppance on-screen.
- They have no sympathetic or likable traits (aside from being separated from their parents) and are taken 100% seriously, even coming off as absolute low lives.
