GIVE YOURSELF TO US.
~ A sentence often repeated by the Entity.
You cannot escape this. This is not the end. I will come back. And you will play with us. I will stitch you two back together, so I can rip you apart all over again!
~ The Entity in the first trailer for Mr Hopp's Playhouse 3.

The Entity, also known as the Dark Lord, is the overarching antagonist of the Mr. Hopp's Playhouse indie horror game series.

He is a powerful deity who was once a resident of the celestial realm known as the Above, he held the esteemed title of the Guardian of Hope. However, his actions and moral decay resulted in his banishment from his heavenly abode, transforming him into a malevolent and dark ruler over the dark and sinister realm of the Underworld. In this infernal domain, he became the very embodiment of evil and sin, spreading terror and despair among those unfortunates enough to cross his path. In order to further his nefarious agenda, he crafted three devoted minions, Mr. Hopp, Miss Bo, and Mr. Stripes. These sinister underlings aided their master in his insidious mission to harvest souls and perpetuate fear. However, their actions inevitably brought them into direct conflict with Ruby and Esther, his archenemies.

Before the third game, he was voiced by the series' creator, Moonbit, in the third game, he was voiced by an uncredited Lewis MacLeod, who also voiced Protoboy in Robotboy.

What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]

  • Despite his insistence that he and his followers are plagued by a "cursed, forsaken, and not evil", it is evident that this proclamation is nothing more than a deceitful ploy employed to manipulate Ruby. Furthermore, it is incredibly ironic and hypocritical of him to make such a claim, considering he was exiled from the divine realm precisely due to his desire to engage in malevolent acts.
  • Prior to the unfolding of the game's events, the Entity encountered a young maiden by the name of Isabelle, bestowing upon her a remarkable necklace adorned with the emblematic symbol of the Six. Tragically, this generous act of the Entity resulted in the girl enduring the bitter consequences of being ostracized and rejected by her own mother, ultimately leading to her being condemned to a gruesome demise through the harrowing method of being immolated upon a stake. However, the Entity, in a display of unparalleled power, subsequently transformed Isabelle into a creature akin to its own enigmatic existence.
    • There is also a strong suggestion that Isabelle, prior to her execution, utilized the Six to carry out wicked acts, such as the heinous crime of murdering her own mother.
    • Despite the fact that he rescued Isabelle and appointed her as his most trusted assistant, he views her solely as a tool to achieve his goals and nothing beyond that.
  • According to the game's creator, numerous children had possessed the Mr. Hopp toy prior to Ruby and Esther, indicating that the extent of suffering inflicted by the Entity is probably far greater than what is depicted.
  • During her pregnancy, he relentlessly plagued Faith (Esther's mother) with horrifying nightmares, relentlessly attempting to seize her very soul.
  • Both he and Mr. Hopp subjected Esther to torment in her dreams, relentlessly displaying haunting visuals of Isabelle engulfed in flames. Consequently, this inflicted immense emotional distress upon Esther, who endured the additional humiliation of being scorned by individuals at the orphanage, particularly Miss Beverly and Molly.
  • In his sinister plot, he attempted to "recruit" Esther, meaning he sought to not only end her life but also taint her innocence. Furthermore, he went on to abduct not only her companions but also the entire orphanage, forcefully dragging them down into the depths of the Underworld.
  • In a final desperate effort to break Esther's spirit, he undergoes a remarkable transformation, merging his essence with the powerful Amalgamation, which includes the formidable Three Curses and the enigmatic Isabelle.
  • Many years had passed since Esther had triumphed over him, but he returned from the shadows to torment her once again. This time, he sought to exact revenge by manipulating her every move and compelling her to hand over Mr. Hopp, a malevolent entity, to her innocent granddaughter, Ruby. Astonishingly, Ruby happened to be the exact age Esther was when she had initially defeated him, thus making him indirectly accountable for the unspeakable deeds committed by Mr. Hopp, including the tragic demise of Ruby's parents.
  • There is a strong implication that the Entity played a significant role in causing her deteriorating health and the loss of her sanity. This ultimately led to her untimely demise while she was receiving medical treatment at the hospital.
  • As a result of the occurrences in the initial game, Ruby found herself labeled as a deranged murderer and was subsequently shunned by her peers, leading to her decision to withdraw from school.
  • In an attempt to eliminate any potential threats to his plans, he orchestrates a sinister plot to have Esther and Ruby assassinated by his loyal minions.
  • He attempts to deceive Ruby by manipulating her into thinking that she is the cause of Esther's pain, in order to make her betray Esther.
  • In the event that Ruby decides to betray him and extend her assistance to Esther, the Entity retaliates by launching a violent attack on her, causing significant harm and ultimately rendering her unconscious.
  • In a final desperate act, he makes one last attempt to end Esther's life all on his own.
