The Expert Ponies are minor characters of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic who first appeared in the Season 7 episode "Fluttershy Leans In", consisting of Hard Hat, Dandy Grandeur and Wrangler. They are group of ponies who were enlisted by Fluttershy's friends to help her build an animal sanctuary in Ponyville. Though they are experts in their respective crafts, they only regard themselves instead of others at all.
Hard Hat was voiced by Mark Gibbon, Dandy Grandeur was voiced by Mackenzie Gray, and Wrangler was voiced by Kazumi Evans.
What makes them Hate Sinks?[]
- When Fluttershy expresses her dreams of having a sanctuary in her own vision, they nervously agreed to help her on behalf of her friends who recommended them for her, showing that they prefer to do their way instead of others.
- When Hard Hat suggesting that the sanctuary will be like a hospital building and clearing away some trees to make a room, but Fluttershy insists on incorporating the trees into the sanctuary. However, Hard Hat only build what he wants and shared his ideas with his fellow co-workers behind her back.
- When Dandy Grandeur suggesting lavish design for sanctuary's curtains, but Fluttershy insisting on a natural color scheme of greens and browns. However, he only chooses "dirt brown" behind her back.
- When Wrangler offering a variety of cages for animals to keep in, but Fluttershy firmly against the use of cages in the sanctuary, much to her dismay.
- They are revealed to be completely unfaithful and dishonest to the point of going against Fluttershy's wishes and only building the animal sanctuary according to their own respective expertise. Due to their actions, the front door is too small for the larger animals to fit in, Dandy's curtains block out the sunlight, and Wrangler's cages are too confining, implying that they never regard about the well-being of the animals. This event led to Fluttershy dismissing them from the project for didn't do what she asked.
- Instead of acknowledging their actions, they convinced that their changes to Fluttershy's sanctuary project are in her best interests but they didn't even give her ideas a chance, and they pin the chances of project falling square on her, not even bothering that their projects were falling apart and prove them wrong.
- Fluttershy's friends, who were the ones who suggested these ponies to Fluttershy, end up being the ones to apologize to Fluttershy, making it clear that they too were disgusted by their behavior.
- This also makes them Karma Houdinis since they don't apologise for their behavior themselves. In fact they exit the story as soon as they were dismissed from the project.
- There is no indication that the three care about each other beyond professionalism. The fact they hid their selfish natures from the ponies who suggested them indicates they don't genuinely care about them either.
