The Shadow is the titular main antagonist/deuteragonist of the Five Nights at Freddy's fanfic duology The Shadow, by Snonk. They serve as the titular main antagonist of a burning shadow and the main protagonist of my greatest creation.

It is a mysterious being which was fascinated by the concept of death and wanted to learn more about human souls, but due to lacking a physical form, had to manipulate William Afton into committing all the murders for it.

What Makes Them a Hate Sink?

• Becoming obsessed with all things involving death, they would proceed to search for a way to slaughter innocents in order to feed their fascination. With them eventually finding this, in William Afton.
• They manipulated William Afton into becoming the depraved child murderer he would become via telling him of the potential that the human soul held.
• After indirectly causing the death of William's daughter Elizabeth, they would proceed to manipulate a grieving William into allowing them to enter the mind of his youngest son.
• Upon being given permission to do so by William, they would proceed to enter the mind of the crying child, plaguing it with horrific nightmares that would leave him completely traumatized.
• They manipulated Michael Afton into becoming a spiteful bully via exploiting his insecurity and lying to him about William liking the crying child more.
• Their actions would inadvertently cause the Bite of 83' something of which they fully admit to being satisfied by the outcome.
• Upon William losing his sanity and sending Michael to his death. The Shadow expressed their amazement in seeing the many kills he would commit by his own hand.
• Growing bored of William's endless child murderer, they would proceed to trick him into allowing the souls of the dead children to be free from their animatronic shells, leading to William's painful demise.
• By the end of the story, The Shadow gets no consequences for their actions, being allowed to get off scot-free after completely ruining William's life.
