The Warden is the overarching antagonist of Family Guy episode "Cool Hand Peter." He is the corrupt warden of Dungarees County Work Camp in Georgia who turns his prisoners into slaves.
He is portrayed by Bob Gunton, who plays the role of Samuel Norton from Shawshank Redemption.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- Although he only has a minute or two of screentime, he establishes himself as someone just as horrible and sadistic as Sheriff Nichols.
- Like Nichols, he is a corrupt official who abused his power and extends his prisoners time without court order for no reason, even keeping a guy imprisoned for 45 years. He does this briefly too Peter and his friends as well. He turns his prisoners into literal slaves.
- He is seemingly a xenophobe as he beats up Cleveland when Peter makes a joke and a majority of his prisoners are black.
- Unlike Sheriff Nichols, he receives no Karma for his actions and nothing implies his torturous work camp was shut down.
- Aside from being a parody of Samuel Norton, he doesn't have any comedic moments to make him more likable, which even Sheriff Nichols and arguably Jeffery Fecalman have.
Trivia[]
- Interestingly, the character that The Warden parodies, Samuel Norton, is also a Hate Sink.
