Tom is the secondary antagonist of Dawn of the Clans arc in Warriors book series by Erin Hunter. After Turtle Tail, his former mate, leaves him because of his abusive behavior, he kidnapps his children, Pebble heart, Owl Eyes and Sparrow Fur, in order to control over them and Turtle Tail. Later, when his plan fails he conspires with One Eye to take over Clear Sky's group.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- Physically and emotionally abusing his former mate Turtle Tail.
- Physically abusing Bumble when their owners would not notice that. She would better starve and live as a rogue, rather than live with him.
- Causing Turtle Tail's death, who was run over when she tried to find her kits.
- Kidnapping his children in order to control over them and Turtle Tail and treat them recklessly and abusive as well.
- Upon discovering Turtletail's death, he was apathetic and subsequently disowned his children, denouncing them as "dumb". This strongly suggests that Tom saw his family as a means to an end rather than individuals.
- Protecting his daughter out of ownership rather than genuine love, how an author stated.
- Helping One Eye to take over Clear Sky's group, causing postmortem oppression for the Early Settlers.
