Tyler Ledford is the secondary antagonist in the 2022 horror-comedy film The Menu.
He is a massive foodie and fanboy of Chef Julian Slowik, who is desperate to visit The Hawthorn, the chef's private restaurant, with his escort Margot. Ledford later reveals himself that he genuinely obsesses with food rather than saving lives of people to cowardly survive the events of the film.
He is portrayed by Nicholas Hoult.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- It's implied that his girlfriend broke up with him due to his immaturity.
- He willingly brought Margot as an escort to The Hawthorn with him since they don't serve single guests, even though he's well aware that Slowik is planning to kill all the guests.
- That action on bringing Margot, who’s an innocent bystander, completely disgusted Julian for his selfishness to completely humiliating Tyler by forcing him to cook the next dish. It's also shown that he was also spectated by Slowik, the cooks, and the guests who were brought willingly into the restaurant.
- He took photographs of the food even though it's forbidden, which was then revealed after being served tortilla wraps with engraved printings of him taking said photos.
- He constantly berated Margot for not liking the food they're served and telling her she doesn't know enough about food.
- He's proven to be a pure sociopath as many guests watch in horror:
- He is completely un-phased by sous-chef Jeremy's suicide and gleefully remarks that he "didn't see that coming".
- He was never shocked or concerned with Richard’s ring finger being decapitated.
- He also follows Julian’s advice as he see Julian’s investor drowning in water.
- Tyler proves to be rude as he took guests food if any of them aren’t going to eat it or finish it.
- When Slowik asks him to cook and express his culinary skills, he proves his incompetence and cooks a disgusting, if even edible dish which Slowik names it Tyler's Bullsh*t.
- Also, Chef Slowik gave a real reason why he personally invited Tyler to the island, Tyler proved to be horrible cook and explaining Slowik's cooking ruined the mystery of his art.
- Even though Slowik taunts him into killing himself, it doesn't make him sympathetic considering how much of a douche-bag he is.
- Unlike the other guests who have some redeeming qualities and Slowik, who is very tragic, Tyler has no redeeming or sympathetic qualities.
