Johnny Williams is the villain of the creepypasta story Play With Me, as well as its 2020 reboot. He is the evil, pedophilic uncle of Sally Williams who had abused his niece before killing her on her own birthday.

What makes him despicable?[]

Original[]

  • He was a pedophile who molested his eight year old niece, Sally.
  • After Sally tells her mother that a bad man touched her, Johnny rapes and murders Sally, even though the mother convinced Sally it was just a nightmare, not wanting to believe someone was hurting her daughter, and Sally didn't even name Johnny as the perpetrator. This means he didn't kill her to silence her out of fear of getting caught, but just out of petty rage that she talked at all.
  • Because of the nature of her death, Sally was unable to find rest and was left as a ghost to wander the world. It's unclear how long she would be stuck as a ghost until she could finally pass on.
  • The author stated they based Sally on their own mother, who herself was a victim of child molestation, meaning that Johnny is meant to symbolize the one(s) who hurt the author's mother in real life.
  • The author revealed that after Sally became a ghost, Slender Man helped her take revenge on Johnny and murder him. In other words, even Slender Man, an evil entity known to evoke terror, was disgusted with his actions.

Reboot[]

  • In this version, the abuse lasts for four years, starting when Sally is 8 and continuing until her 12th birthday. He sneaks into her room every night and molests her while she sleeps. This makes for well over a thousand cases of molestation.
  • The reboot shows how Sally changes because of the sexual abuse, becoming more tense and growing weary around her own home. Her two best friends, Jennie and Sara, notice her change in character, but Sally is so uncomfortable talking about the abuse that she shuts her friends out and doesn't tell them or her own parents about the abuse. Even once her friends find out about the abuse, she insists they keep quiet about it. It takes a lot of prodding from her friends before Sally agrees to admit to her family about the abuse, and even than, not until her birthday.
  • It's mentioned at one point that Johnny "was internally relishing the fact that his mere presents [Sic] made the girl uncomfortable", showing sadism.
  • He calls Sally a "fucking brat" for taping the knob of her locked door and holding it to keep him from breaking in one night.
  • He blows cigarette smoke in Sally's face.
  • He threatens Sally, saying if she keeps trying to keep him out of her room, he will play a worse "game" with her until she finally stops, implying that he will start outright raping or at least physically abusing her until she gets the message not to resist him and just let him sexually abuse her.
  • He mentions at one point that he's looking forward to the slumber party Sally will be having at her home with Jennie and Sara, which could be taken to imply that he was initially planning on taking advantage of the opportunity to molest not only Sally, but Jeannie and Sara as well. He actually does try to pick the lock on her door on the night of the slumber party, even after learning that the three girls are planning to expose him on the day of Sally's 12th birthday, strongly suggesting he was going to rape and/or murder all three little girls (or at least threaten them) to silence them, though he is stopped by the tape on Sally's door lock preventing him from picking it.
  • He murders Sally on her birthday by bashing her head with a rock (though he at least doesn't rape her first in this version).
  • As in the original, Sally becomes a ghost barred from reaching the afterlife, forcing her to wander the Earth for who knows how long until she can finally rest in peace.
  • When arrested, he blames everything on his brother and sister in law, stating that he lusted after Sally because he had a crush on his sister in law Marie before she married his brother Frank, and Sally looked just like Marie. He states that he hates Frank for taking Marie from him, as well as for Frank being the favorite child of their father, who often abused Johnny.
  • While he mentions having an abusive father, that has absolutely nothing to do with him being a pedophile, and is not used to try and make him in any way tragic. It would also be insufficient as a proportionate Freudian excuse in light of his crimes anyway.
