Vanna Smith is a minor character in the Spider-Man comics. Since Spider-Man was always saving her, she assumed that he had romantic feelings for her, and was even staging some of his battles just to impress her. Her paranoia of him made her think that Spider-Man was a peeping tom that was harassing her. In reality, Spider-Man was just being a hero.
What Makes Her a Hate Sink?[]
- Her first impression of Spider-Man upon meeting him for the first time was calling him a weirdo, and posting that she thought this on her blog.
- While at school, she chose not to run after the Vulture crash landed by the bleachers and was telling everyone to get out of his way, her justification being that no one gets to tell her what to do. When Spider-Man appears behind her to save her, she doesn't even thank him, believes that he was being a Peeping Tom under the bleachers and was spying on her.
- The real reason Spider-Man was under the bleachers was because Peter Parker needed a spot to change into his Spider Suit without being seen.
- She didn't have another run-in with Spider-Man until YEARS LATER, where he was thrown through a wall by the villain he was fighting. Despite it being years, she still assumed that Spider-Man was a peeping tom, and so she hit him in the head with her bag, despite him being busy fighting an actual villain.
- After this fight, Vanna began to believe that Spider-Man was no real hero at all, and that he was really staging all of these fights to impress her.
- She witnesses two more fights of his, against Sandman and Rhino, before deciding that he's a stalker and she reports him.
- She files a restraining order to the courts, and despite the Judge clearly thinking she's insane, it is granted to her.
- She poses with her restraining order for a photo with the Daily Bugle.
- Decades later, even after Spider-Man's death in battle, she still considers him a freak, and his happy to hear that he is dead when an elderly Mary Jane tells her.
- She dismisses Mary Jane as not important in her blog, and claims that the only thing she ever misses from Spider-Man was the "attention" that he gave her.
- Throughout all the years of her life, she always posted about her hatred for Spider-Man on her blog.
Trivia[]
