Now, I want you to write, "I must not read like a Pure Evil wiki page".
Dolores Umbridge thinks this page is in desperate need of a rewrite on information that actually makes the character look like a Hate Sink. Otherwise she will use the Blood Quill. Click here to help Umbridge ensure this wiki's academic excellency.

ā€œ Macnair, remember him? Bloke they sent ter kill Buckbeak? Maniac, he is. Likes killin' as much as Golgomath; no wonder they were gettin' on so well. ā€ž
~ Rubeus Hagrid regarding Macnair's bloodthirsty nature.

Walden Macnair is a minor antagonist in the Harry Potter series. He is one of Lord Voldemort's Death Eaters and for a while was also an executioner for the Ministry of Magic.

He was portrayed by Peter Best in Prisoner of Azkaban and Order of the Phoenix, Ashley Artus in Goblet of Fire, and allegedly Granville Saxton in Deathly Hallows - Part 1 and 2.

What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]

  • He is likely a pure-blood supremacist and takes part in hate crimes.
  • He is a snake, as after Voldemort's first defeat, he got away with his crimes by pretending he had been under the Imperius Curse. He also murdered Broderick Bode as he was recovering in St. Mungo's by delivering him a pot of Devil's Snare.
  • He has an overall violent and sadistic personality and became an executioner because of his affinity for killing.
    • He was the one to execute Rubeus Hagrid's innocent pet Hippogriff Buckbeak for hurting Draco Malfoy. Though Harry Potter and Hermione Granger later travelled back in time and prevented it from happening, his intentions count.
  • He is responsible for Lord Voldemort's largest genocide, as he convinced the giants to side with Voldemort in the Second Wizarding War, leading to a London massacre and the largest known in canon.
