Warren T. Rat (real name Warren T. Cat) is the main antagonist of Don Bluth's second animated feature An American Tail. He is a cat in rat's clothing, Fievel Mousekewitz's arch-nemesis, and the leader of the Mott Street Maulers, a gang of dangerous cats who terrorize the mice of New York City.
He was voiced by the late John Finnegan.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- He cheats the mice of New York City out of their money for protection he never provides, which makes him the reason for their misery, and sells Fievel to Moe's sweatshop for 50 cents after pretending to help him find his family.
- He secretly has his henchmen pick off a mouse, even kids, every once in a while to force the mice into submission.
- He extorts the mice not just out of greed, but also sadistic pleasure.
- He doesn't care about his henchmen and treats them in an unkind, bullying manner. He also constantly threatens to fire or kill his assistant, Digit.
- He demands the mice to give him Fievel and all of their money in exchange for the cats leaving them alone, while planning for his cats to attack them afterward.
- When the mice finally see his true nature and stand up to him, he sets Chelsea Pier on fire in one last attempt to kill them.
- When he and his gang are driven onto a ship heading for Hong Kong, he decides to continue his operations there, knowing there are plenty of mice in Hong Kong.
