You only really need...one... BEST... FRIEND!
~ Warren's last words before getting skewered by Duck.

Warren the Eagle, previously known as Warren the Worm, is the main antagonist of the Don't Hug Me I'm Scared episode Friendship.

He is a self-proclaimed "friendship expert" who seeks to teach Yellow Guy about friendship, before turning on him, and revealing his true nature to him.

He was voiced by Baker Terry.

What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]

In General[]

  • He poses himself as an expert in making friends with others, even having his own podcast on the matter, in actuality, he leeches off of those he tries to befriend mentally.
  • Although he is insecure and craves friends, he always acts like that he is far more important than they are. One significant example of this is how he refers to himself as an "eagle" despite being a worm, making people listen to his low-quality podcasts, and trying to teach people how to make friends, even though he has no friends himself.
    • On top of this, in the presentation that he gives to the main puppet trio, which was a rather shameless way to explain his backstory, he "subtly" explains that the friends he had were mistreating him, but in actuality, they were giving him less attention and interest, and his response shows how self-centered he is, which is better highlighted later in the episode.
    • On top of this, he unnecessarily projects himself into certain situations and uses these as opportunities to push his viewpoints and ideas on friendship with little to no disregard for what others believe.
  • Before the events of his debut episode, he was fired from the OK Stop Organization for harassment.

Don't Hug Me I'm Scared[]

  • He abruptly showed up in Yellow Guy, Red Guy, and Duck Guy's house after the former was cursed at, rambling about how impolite said action was.
    • While Abruptly being summoned or appearing isn't new for most teachers in the series, Warren is the exception, as he is made out more to be like an unwanted guest to the puppets.
  • When the puppets and even Colin start throwing insults and complaints towards him and his appearance, he eventually tries talking about how he isn't bothered because of his "confidence" despite being clearly agitated by their words earlier.
  • Though the other puppets are quick to disregard Warren, Yellow Guy is the only one who bothers to listen to his lesson the more it goes on, leading to him getting upset that he didn't get an email and falling into a trance-like state after remembering Warren's words.
    • Furthermore, rather than showing concern like the other two puppets, he talks about how their friendship has sunk before opting to nearly leave the house.
  • After he is tempted back in with being offered a restaurant-style meal by Red Guy, he invades Yellow Guy's mind. While he seemed to initially do this to rescue Yellow Guy and later befriend the brain friends as they showed him kindness, he quickly started to turn on them, getting irritated by the slow, shy nature of Yellow Guy's imaginary older brother and making the other brain friends listen to his podcast.
    • This led to all of the brain friends leaving while Yellow Guy and his imaginary brother stayed behind, causing the latter to infamously commit suicide after Warren kept harassing him about his podcast.
    • It should also be noted that Warren shrugged off the older brother's death, showing he had no remorse for this.
  • After all the brain friends left, Warren proceeded to declare himself as Yellow Guy's best friend as he ordered a restaurant-style meal for them both. This ultimately proves that everything Warren was doing was to alienate Yellow Guy from both his real-life and imaginary friends to keep himself as his best and only friend, just to leech off of him and imprison him in his mind.
  • When Yellow Guy retreated further into his mind, Warren proceeded to obsessively follow him.
  • He transformed into a grotesque, monstrous version of himself as a last ditch effort to keep Yellow Guy in his own mind, only to bet impaled through his head, finally killing Warren.
  • Unlike most teachers in the series, who are either misguided or are complete propagandists, Warren is one of the few who are actively malevolent, and additionally, one of the few teachers who personally and psychologically affects one of the puppets.
    • Like several teachers whose actions fall under symbolism, Warren is a scarily accurate representation of toxic and parasitic friendships.
