William Lewis, born Lewis Williams, is one of the main antagonists of the crime series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
He is the main antagonist in the episodes "Her Negotiation", "Surrender Benson", "Psycho/Therapist" and "Beast's Obsession", a posthumous antagonist in "American Tragedy" and "Wednesday's Child", & the overreaching antagonist in "Post-Mortem Blues. He was famous on SVU for being the archenemy of main protagonist Olivia Benson.
He is played by Pablo Schreiber, who also voiced Patrick Bateman in the Audiobook for American Psycho.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- He described his childhood story where he received oral sex from his babysitter and then watching his dad rape her before going out to Dairy Queen for ice cream as "one of the best days of [his] life".
- Adding to his overall psychopathy and sadism, Lewis enjoys the suffering that is inflicted on him just as much as he does of others. Examples of this are when he laughs while burning his own fingertips off on the stove in front of his colleague and when he cheers Benson when she starts kicking the back of his knees while he's tied to the bed. Lastly, When Benson warns Lewis about hell raining on him (as in dozens of police officers gunning after him), he simply says "let it rain."
- Raped and tortured 4 women, one being the mother of a drug addicted girlfriend and the other being his actual girlfriend, who died, showing he has no care for his lover.
- While he would get comeuppance for his crimes after years of murders and rapes, at a time he was a karma Houdini as the roommates were too traumatized to Trudy while the mother of his ex was not believed for being a meth addict.
- He commits several crimes like burning his roommates hand and flashing teenage girls at a park, all out of mere sadism.
- Despite it being completely unnecessary, he targeted the 60 year-old Alice Parker, who he brutally tortured, branded, and burned, eventually killing her from the trauma. This was supposedly done to spite Donald Cragen, who felt in love with Alice.
- He kidnapped main character Olivia Benson and forced her to watch him as he killed and rape several people, also torturing her and taunting her.
- His beatdown at the hands of Olivia Benson, while brutal, is played for karmic satisfaction.
- Further showing how much he cares for no one, he smiled at Bronwyn-Freed-Wilkins when she hugged him, but while not looking at her, revealed a face that showed that he utterly despised her.
- Kidnapped Benson while holding Amelia Hostage and then gave the sadistic choice that either the girl will be raped while she watches or Benson will be raped while the girl watches.
- Mentioned before, he enjoys his pain just as much as others but this sadomasochism even ranges from death as he plays Russian roulette with Olivia Benson and happily kills himself in an attempt to frame Olivia.
- None of the things he does are out of pervertedness as he only commits his crimes as he knows that rape and torture can give people severe PTSD. Proof of this is when he stops molesting Benson due to her not having any traumatic reaction or bodily movement, for which he switches to a dangerous and thrill seeking psychological technique instead.

- Some rapists try to maintain the outward appearance of a normal lifestyle and occupation. However, for Lewis, he rapes and murders "for a living".
- To cement his Hate Sink status, Warren Leight intended for William Lewis to be one of the most evil and depraved criminals in the entire series; one that would torment Benson who is regarded as a fan-favourite character.
- He was the previous icon for the Mature Template.
