Yomi Hellsmile is the secondary antagonist of the 2023 adventure game Master Detective Archives: Rain Code.

He is the director of the Amaterasu Corporation Peacekeepers, also meaning he is forced to submit to CEO Makoto Kagutsuchi to his disdain, and the enforcer of what qualifies as law in Kanai Ward. In reality, Yomi is a corrupt, malicious and loathsome individual who couldn't care less about law or justice despite preaching such and is willing to destroy the lives of others to get ahead in life, holding no compassion for anyone or anything before him.

His means of getting into power prior to the story was trading with outside military sources, allowing him to use coercion to stay in control while remaining immune to any legitimate punishment for his corruption and abuse of others. He is the arch-nemesis of Yakou Furio, chief of the Nocturnal Detective Agency.

He is voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka in Japanese and Howard Wang in English.

What Makes Him Despicable?

• All of his dialogue is openly hostile and consists of him antagonizing people by needlessly degrading them, talking down to them only because he feels superior to everyone around him.
• He is a selfish and psychopathic security department director who despises everyone around him and abuses his power over Kanai Ward solely for his own agenda. He doesn't even care about using the residents as test subjects or falsely arresting and executing people just to cover up the truth nor has any well-intentioned goals behind why he does this, using his supposed desire to "bring peace to Kanai Ward" as an excuse for his crimes.
• He's cruel and disloyal to everyone around him, regardless of if they're enemy or ally, and has no loyalty to anyone who allies with him. Him sending out his subordinates to cover for him is just part of the mask that he uses to feign loyalty to his subordinates, when he really couldn't care less about them and will execute them the moment they fail him.

Trivia

• Yomi is the only Peacekeeper and overall Amaterasu Corporation member that can qualify as a Hate Sink as the other Peacekeepers are too entertaining, Dr. Huesca is not hateable enough and has minor redeeming qualities, and Martina, even discounting her redemption, has sincere love for Yomi and a sense of honor. Makoto Kagutsuchi is also portrayed a sympathetic extremist despite his actions being far more heinous than Yomi's and redeems himself as well.
• To emphasize his Hate Sink status, Yomi's creator Kazutaka Kodaka has personally described him as "the disgusting guy of disgusting guys" and has outright stated that "he's too naive for Danganronpa."
