York is the major antagonist of the Egghead arc of the anime and manga franchise, One Piece. She is one of the six Satellites created by Dr. Vegapunk. Her aspect is greed, and her function is to eat, sleep, and go to the bathroom in the stead of other Satellites. However, she later revealed to be a rogue Satellite as her goal is to become a Celestial Dragon.

She is played by Mutsumi Tamura in Japanese, while Robin Clayton voiced her in the English dub.

What Makes Her Hate Sink?[]

  • Unlike Vegapunk and her fellow Satellites, who expressed disgust towards Celestial Dragons for their cruelty, York expressed her desire to be one, showing her immoral personality.
  • She was responsible for sending a sample of Mother Flame, a energy source that the original invented, for the World Government to destroy Lulusia with an Ancient Weapon and that also inadvertently made the sea rise up the world by one meter.
  • Few months before the Straw Hats Pirates enter the Egghead Island, she been leaking sensitive information to the World Government, showing she is willing to sell out her fellow Satellites for her selfish goals in contrast to Lilith, who despite being a literal embodiment of Vegapunk's evil side, cares for her other satellites and the original.
    • When the Cipher Pol agents came to investigate, York abducted them, put them in their cell, and made them starved to death, which the real Vegapunk was unaware of.
    • However, York was not smart enough for the original, Shaka, and Pythagoras to see through York’s treachery that they had to create a contingency plan that include post-mortem broadcast message and have to wipe their memory prior to Straw Hats arrival.
  • When the World Government ordered CP0 and the Marines to eliminate everyone, York didn’t think that through of government’s intent as she was really delusion for that.
    • However, she gave a secret order to the Seraphims to eliminate the Straw Hats, other Vegapunks, and to prevent their escape from Egghead. That action also seemingly killed Pythagoras, Wisdom Vegapunk.
    • Her plans would have work had it not been Luffy’s request to S-Snake, who happens to be clone to Boa Hancock and inherit her love to Luffy, to help his friend, and S-Snake agrees, even goes against her program.
    • She also captured the Dr. Vegapunk and place him in a cell next to the CP agents.
    • When Shaka, good Vegapunk, found the missing CP agents and the original Vegapunk is, York seemingly killed him without remorse and revealed her true nature to the original.
    • She would eventually be indirectly responsible for the original’s death.
  • When she was easily defeated with the help of Straw Hat Pirates, she is shown to be cowardly, arrogant, and insensitive as she begged the Five Elder Stars’ help after the latter agreed to make her a Celestial Dragon in exchange to produce more Mother Flame.
  • York was insensitive to Robin as she mentioned about how Ohara, Robin’s home country, was destroyed, and Nami beats York up for that.
  • York created a barrier code to prevent them from escaping while gloating. However, the Vegapunks manage to crack the code quickly, much to her anger, showing her illogical move.
  • After she was left behind by the Straw Hats, Bonney, and Vegapunks, she immediately tried to work with the Five Elders into stopping Vegapunk’s broadcast message, however once again, she is not smart as she doesn’t even know how to find real one with the original creating several decoys of the broadcast snails.
  • Even though, she does later find where the real one as it guarded by Iron Giant, a giant robot, not knowing that it awakens making it harder for the World Government to stop the message with the truth revealing that could damage their reputation.
    • When the Five Elders manage to incapacitate Emet that caused the broadcast message to stop, York felt relief with her desire to becoming a Celestial Dragon, not knowing that it was only temporary as Emet quickly recovers.
  • York gives the Five Elders the information on the other Satellites their locations to eliminate them so she can be the only Vegapunk.
    • This idea caused Atlas, Violence Vegapunk, to incapacitate Lilith, and Atlas having to sacrifice her life to protecting her allies. When York sensed that all the other Satellites being offline, she arrogantly rejoiced that she believes that she can be a Celestial Dragon, not knowing that Lilith was only offline, and she is completely unaware that with Lilith being alive and also all the other deceased Satellites can still be “alive” showing her effort to being the only Vegapunk is all for nothing. To add further insult to her plan, Lilith has a cloning technology to revive the original Vegapunk.
    • Also, she intended to give the Punk Record, an archive information, to the World Government, which could doom the entire world, just so she can hope to be a Celestial Dragon. However, Edison, Knowledge Vegapunk, who secretly faked his death, manages to outsmart her by taking the Punk Record to the sky so she cannot send it to the World Government though as a Vegapunk she can still access it the information with a thought. Without the Punk Record, York and the World Government won't gain access to the Mother Flame.
    • After all the deceased satellites got revived as one Vegapunk using the spare parts thanks to Edison’s help, they deemed York to be a liability for her betrayal and selfish greed. Also, they despise her that they destroyed all of her spare parts, so she cannot ever be revived when she gets killed. They also taken the Punk Record to Weatheria, so that it won't fall into the hands of York or the World Government.
